Cycle Style: Autumn/Winter Commute

Claire

Autumn weather is here! With our notoriously changeable British weather, it can be tricky to plan for a ride (LAYER, LAYER, LAYER). Luckily we've got some fantastic kit to keep you on the road. Below are my top picks for your autumn/winter commute that we sell at the shop and are all in-stock.

Endura Full Length Padded Tights – these will keep the chill off as well as keeping your bum comfy! They are super comfy, insulated, and come at a great price.

Endura Long Sleeved or Short Sleeved Merino Baselayer – super soft and naturally sweat wicking - keeps you warm when it’s chilly, and cool when on warmer days.

Vulpine Rain Shorts or Rain Pants – shorts if you just want a dry bum, full length pants perhaps if you have a longer commute which could get uncomfortable with wet knees. Both are water-resistant and extremely breathable.

Café du Cycliste Jersey or Vulpine Merino Alpine Jersey – a thin layer to go over your baselayer which is still breathable, and has the added bonus of back pockets. Autumn and winter are all about layering up so it's important to have options!

Endura Merino Armwarmers (if not taking a long sleeved jersey) – easy to peel off while you are riding if you get hot and stick in a pocket.

Café du Cycliste Madeleine Gilet – keep the wind off your torso, and take it off, roll it up, and store in a jersey pocket if you get hot.

Endura Pakajak or Vulpine Rain Jacket – for when it is unequivocally wet. Use a Pakajak on warmer days, and bring out the Vulpine big guns when it’s cold and wet!

Café du Cycliste Neck Scarf – looks good and helps prevent the stiff neck it’s so easy to get when you cycle in cold weather.

Bern Helmet – a nicely insulated helmet, available with peaks to help keep that pesky rain out of your face. We have a vast Bern collection at the shop just for women cyclists.

If you have any questions at all, don't hesitate to contact us or pop down to the shop! I do want to emphasize that it is very important to try cycling clothes on before you purchase because we are all different shapes and sizes and brands ALWAYS size differently. Plus cycling clothing can be a bit pricey, so you need to know that it's the perfect fit for you.
